How it works

How Redemption Scout grades your points.

Every redemption gets measured against real benchmarks and handed back to you as a simple grade — so you know at a glance whether a trip is worth your points before you commit them.

The flow

From points to a graded redemption in three steps.

01

Add your points

Connect or enter the balances you hold across every program — transferable card points, airline miles, and hotel points. Redemption Scout works from what you actually have, so the trips and grades you see reflect your own wallet.

02

Scout a trip

Tell us where and when you want to go. Redemption Scout looks at how the trip could be booked on points — which programs can cover it, and what each route would cost — so you are comparing real ways to book, not guesses.

03

Get a graded redemption

Every option is scored on how much value your points buy, and you get a plain-English verdict on which redemption is worth pulling the trigger on. No spreadsheets, no second-guessing — just a clear answer before you transfer a single point.

The grade

How the grade is derived.

We measure every redemption in cents per point — how much real value each point buys when you book the trip. A redemption that turns a point into more value is, simply, a better use of that point.

That number on its own does not mean much, so we compare it to the typical range for the program you are spending from. Every program has a floor, a median, and a ceiling — and where your redemption lands in that range is what turns into a plain verdict you can act on.

Floor

A weak redemption. Your points are buying less value here than they usually should — often a sign to pay cash and save the points for a better trip.

Median

A typical redemption. Roughly what points in this program are normally worth — fair, but rarely the moment to celebrate.

Ceiling

An excellent redemption. Your points are working far harder than usual — the kind of booking worth transferring for and locking in.

The verdict tells you, in one line, whether to pull the trigger or hold your points for something better — no guesswork, no math, no leaving value on the table.

Why trust it

Independent, on your side.

Redemption Scout is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any loyalty program or card issuer. We do not earn anything from steering you toward one program over another — the grade reflects what your points are worth, nothing else.

Benchmarks describe typical value, not a guarantee. Always confirm award space, fees, and program terms before transferring points.

Stop leaving points on the table.

Grade your next redemption before you transfer a single point.
